The Chicago Purchasing Managers Index rose this morning to the highest level since November 2023.  This unexpected blip up restores some faith in the U.S. economy after last week’s barrage of unsavory forecasts and sour attitudes.

In spite of the moderately important, mildly optimistic PMI numbers, mortgage interest rates are trending toward to bottom of the current range they’ve been in for the last month.  This rest of the week will be all about the smattering of info detailing the health of the labor market.
